Top Tips for Riders Using SmartCoach

We set out our top tips for using SmartCoach below, so that you can really make the most of it!

 

What Device?

We recommend using a PC or laptop, as SmartCoach isn't fully mobile responsive just yet! For the best possible experience you should use Google Chrome - this can be downloaded easily and safely by visiting www.google.com/chrome!

 

Video Uploads

Depending on your internet connection it may take a while to upload your video to send to the coach of your choice. The best idea is just to upload the video and do something else – you can happily change tabs and do other work on your computer; or go and do something else completely! The video will upload in the background as long as your browser remains open!

 

Camera Position

Anywhere is fine to film from, just pick a spot where you can be clearly seen most of the time. In a dressage arena, the best place is often at B or E – for jumping try to video close enough that our coaches can see what you’re doing without being so close that it’s difficult to tell what’s happening.

 

Video File Type

Currently only MP4's are supported, however will be looking to support all video file types in the near future. In the mean time you can easily convert your videos online here.

 

Filter Coaches

We have lots of handy coach filtering options (on the right-hand side of the ‘search coaches’ page). Use this to choose an instructor that fits your discipline and price range, or just type their name into our search box.

 

Checking your video sent

Not sure if your video has actually sent or not? Go to ‘my videos’ and if the video has sent you will see it under the ‘pending’ heading.

 

Filtering Videos

After you’ve sent a few videos it can become confusing which video is which! Use our handy filters (right-hand side of ‘my videos’ page) to find the video you’re looking for! You can filter by horse, coach, date submitted, or status!

 

Uploading a profile picture

Simply go to account settings to change your profile picture.

 

Change or cancel your subscription

Account settings allow you to change or your subscriptions. Please note that your subscription is cancelled immediately if you choose to cancel – it doesn’t continue until the end of the billing period for now. We are working on this feature at the moment.

 

Control the background noise of a video

If your original video has audio you are able to control this by clicking on the sound icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the video when you watch it after it's been reviewed by a coach. You can have it on full volume, half volume or mute - whichever suits you best!
